In Final Roger faced Kei Nishikori of Japan who defeated world number 1 in semi final and was in great shape in confidence but Roger proved to be too strong for him and defeated him in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 and won the 5th basel and overall 68th title.
A Great Comeback Started: Swiss Indoors Basel
After skipping Shanghai and getting some rest Roger was on roll with confidence and started his indoors campaign in his hometown tournament Swiss Indoors Basel. It is the tournament Roger started playing very well and gaining confidence day by day to retain the No - 1 ranking. Roger played Potito Starace
(ITA, 50) in 1st round and defeated him in straight sets 7-6(3), 6-4. Roger was in trouble against Jarkko Nieminen of Finland but cam through in 3 sets 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. Then comes the old rival Andy Roddick, Roger easilt defeated him in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 and go on to win the semi final against country man and friend Stanislas Wawrinka the score was 7-6, 6-2.
